The challenge
Existing tools choked above a few thousand features; planners needed to see millions at once, interactively.
The approach
We offloaded parsing to Web Workers, rendered with GPU-based layers, and added level-of-detail clustering so the map stayed smooth at any zoom.
The outcome
Planners could finally explore full datasets in real time, turning multi-hour batch jobs into instant interaction.
What I did
- Built the worker-based data pipeline
- Implemented GPU layers and LOD clustering
- Optimized interaction to 60fps at 1M+ points
